Now that you are aware of what the different styles of windows are, it is also important to know what the different materials there are that go into making a window.

Wood windows have been around for a very long time.  They are very easy to customize to fit in a variety of openings.  There is natural beauty with wood, which is why many people like wood windows.  However, over time wood can chip and warp and therefore the energy efficiency is compromised.

One of the most popular materials for window in homes is vinyl.  These windows are usually lower is cost, but very energy efficient.  One problem with vinyl windows is that they cannot be repainted.

If a homeowner wants to put in new windows in thier home and have a limited budget they might want to put in aluminum windows.  These windows are less energy efficient than other windows, and when they are painted they are not as natural looking as wood or fiberglass.

A new type of window on the market is the fiberglass window.  they are very energy efficient and can be painted to any color.  They will not shrink or warp, and are almost maintenance free.  They are however more expensive than aluminum or vinyl.
