What are buyers looking for?
Buyers are constantley changing everyday. Their want and needs and what they are looking for in a home are also changing. As a seller it is essential to be informed about what a buyer is looking for in a home. This knowledge of the buyer will help you sell your home quicker. It will also help you if you are thinking of remodeling by showing what would be best for resale value.
In a 2007 survey released by the National Association of Realtors 57% of the people surveyed said that an oversized garage was very important to a home. This figure is up 16% from a similar survey done in 2004. Of the people who were surveyed, 56% of them said that they would pay more for a home with an oversized garage.
Another feature that is important to buyers are a walk-in closet in the master bedroom. 53% of the people surveyed said this was important. Air conditioning is important to 75% of the people surveyed. Hardwood floors (28%) and granite countertops (23%) are also important.
Home remodeling projects are also important to buyers after the purchase of their home. Nearly six out of 10 people did remodeling or home improvement projects within three months of the purchase of their home. Half of these people remodeled their bathroom, and half remodeled their kitchen. They spent an average of $4,350.00 on these home remodeling projects.
When selling it is important to know what the buyer is looking for. A real estate professional can help you do this buy getting feedback from the people that tour your home, and also knowledge of the needs and wants of today’s buyers.
