Shower Stall Clean Up, Part 2
In my last post I talked about how to clean up your shower stall with little costs. Today I have two more ideas that take more time or more money.
A second way to clean up your shower is to re-grout your shower and clean the tiles. Dremel has a great grout cleaning tool. It comes with different sized bits that will drill out the grout. Make sure to use the guide that fits on the tool, or you will break bits eaiser. You can also go and buy hand grout removal tools. I use the Dremel and the hand tools together. They make a great combination. After removing all of the grout, you need to clean all of the tiles with a razor blade. Use the flat style of blades, commonly used to scrape off windows. This will clean the tiles and get them free from soap scum. It is amazing how dirty your tiles can be. After cleaning the tiles you are ready to re-grout. Make sure to buy a non-sanded grout for the walls. Follow the directions on the box to make sure that you are mixing the grout correctly, and add an additive if you need to. After applying the first round wipe off the excess and let it dry. The tiles will still be covered with some grout. After the grout has turned a little hazy wipe off the excess with a big yellow spunge that can be found at most home improvement stores. Repeat this step until the all of the tiles are clean.
A final way to clean up your shower stall is to hire a professional. Make sure that you hire a reputable contractor that has experience. Tile can be tricky and it is nice to be sure that the contractor knows what they are doing. Ask for pictures of the work they have done in the past and also ask for references.
