With the Minnesota winter coming soon, many people are thinking about the heat in thier home.  Here are a couple of tips to help you lower your heating bills in your home this winter.

First of all you can turn down your thermostat.  If you turn down the termostat when you go to bed and when you leave your home, which is sometimes up to 16 hours a day, you can save up to 14% on your heating bill.

A second idea is to use bathroom and kitchen fans only when necessary.  They are taking the warm air from your home and moving it outside.

Thirdly you can turn down your water heater.  Many people do not even know you can do this.  Play around with the setting and see what works best for you.  If you always have enough hot water you can turn the setting down.

Another fix is to make sure that your windows are sealed properly.  You can find the leaks by getting an incense stick and put it next to your windows.  You will be able to tell if your windows are drafty or not.
