Winter is just around the corner.  And especially in Minnesota, it can be 70 degrees and sunny and 30 degrees and very cold the next day.  Here are some more ideas to get you and your home ready for winter.

One of the first things you can do is to check your water pipes.  You want to make sure that they are drained of all water.  When water freezes it expands and can break your pipes.  Insulate the exposed pipes and cover the outside facuets.

Second check your doors and windows.  Light a stick on incense and run it along the edges of your doors and windows.  If the smoke is moving there could be a leak.

Thirdly you should check your steps.  Make sure that all handrailings are secure and the concrete or other surfaces are not raised.  You don’t need somthing else to trip and fall on.

You should also check your chimney.  You should call a professional to do this.  They have equiptment that is very good at dectecting a chimney that needs attention.
